Splithead is a first person psychological horror game inspired by classic Slender style survival.
Lost in a dark forest, you must search for scattered pages while avoiding a presence. Staying too close for too long causes reality to break, distorting your vision and overwhelming your senses.
The entity becomes dangerous when it is on screen and nearby. Looking at it for too long builds exposure, distorting your vision and audio. If exposure reaches its limit, you die.
Occasionally, a head intrusion may occur. During this event, Splithead forces itself into your view and traps you in a struggle. To survive, you must rapidly thrash your camera to break free before the exposure overwhelms you.
There are no weapons and no combat. Survival depends entirely on awareness, movement, and knowing when to stop looking.

Very solid for such a simple game. The map isn't too large and the monster is very startling to see. Nice animation on the death scene too. Great work!
Thanks for the video. I watched it all and took on board your feedback.
I’ve added dynamic note spawns, fixed Splithead teleporting on the edge of the screen, and sorted the rock issues. I also went a bit further and added a distortion effect, plus Linux compatibility (there’s a Linux build being uploaded now).

The game looks really fun, but I'm getting a no compatible downloads found error when attempting to get the zip
Thanks for letting me know. I just tested it and can confirm it’s had over 25 downloads. I also ran the game in a virtual machine to make sure the .exe is working. Both the ZIP and the game are fine, so it looks like the issue may be on your end, unfortunately.
I'm getting the same error. I am trying to download it through the itch app. I can see that the included file is splithead.zip, but when i try to download it the app says that no compatible downloads were found.
I appreciate you letting me know, I will let you know shortly if I find a solution.

It would also be important for me to know whether the in-game music and sound effects are safe to use in monetized videos, without the risk of copyright claims or strikes on YouTube/Twitch.
